Senior Health and Safety Advisor

About the role

Evolution Mining is recruiting a Senior Health and Safety Advisor for Ernest Henry Operations, an underground gold mine in Queensland. The role leads a multidisciplinary team of safety, health and emergency management professionals and partners with operational leaders to build capability, strengthen safety systems and foster a strong safety culture. It is a hands-on leadership position combining operational influence, team leadership and technical expertise, with a FIFO option on an 8/6 roster from Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational health and safety leadership across Ernest Henry Operations, partnering with leaders to support safe and effective outcomes
• Lead and develop a team of Health and Safety Advisors, Occupational Health professionals and Emergency Management personnel
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the site's Safety and Health Management System
• Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring quality investigations and meaningful corrective actions
• Coordinate occupational health and emergency management activities across your roster
• Provide expert coaching and practical health and safety advice to operational leaders and frontline teams

Required profile

• Confident and credible health and safety leader who thrives in operational environments and enjoys influencing outcomes through people, systems and culture
• Ideally significant health and safety experience in mining, resources or another heavy industry
• Proven experience giving operational health and safety advice and leading or mentoring health and safety professionals
• Strong incident investigation capability, including formal training such as ICAM or equivalent
• Experience with safety management systems, compliance requirements and continuous improvement
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skills, with a collaborative leadership style
