Senior GNC Engineer

About the role

Anduril Australia is building next‑generation uncrewed maritime and air systems. The Senior GNC Engineer will lead the design, implementation and evolution of Guidance, Navigation and Control subsystems for autonomous underwater vehicles and other robotic platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture selection, design and implementation of GNC sub‑systems and control schemes for autonomous robotic platforms.
• Integrate best‑in‑class third‑party technologies, research partners and internal product teams.
• Develop real‑time embedded software on an RTOS and create hardware‑in‑the‑loop test fixtures.
• Generate modeling and simulation capabilities, analyse test data, and perform root‑cause investigations for vehicle anomalies.
• Support manufacturing, deployment and mentor multidisciplinary software and hardware engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 6 years of experience developing safety‑critical GNC software, including cascading and adaptive controls.
• Strong systems programming skills (algorithms, data structures, concurrency, optimization).
• Extensive experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Required skills

• RTOS development and real‑time embedded programming (C / C++).
• MATLAB, Simulink for modeling and simulation.
• Communication buses and protocols: CAN, CANFD, ARINC‑825, ARINC‑429, MIL‑STD‑1553, UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, Ethernet.
• Familiarity with open‑source flight stacks such as PX4, ArduPilot, ROS.
• Experience with DO‑178 or similar certification processes.
