Senior Financial Accountant – Temporary Contract

About the role

This temporary senior finance position supports the finance team during a critical reporting period for a global organisation. Based in Sydney CBD, the role starts immediately and focuses on month‑end and year‑end financial reporting, lease accounting and balance‑sheet reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Financial Accountant with month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Manage lease accounting under IFRS 16, handling reassessments, modifications and related disclosures.
• Prepare and investigate balance‑sheet reconciliations, resolving any reconciling items.
• Support statutory financial reporting and the preparation of financial statements.
• Provide technical accounting support for complex accounting matters across the business.
• Collaborate with finance and operational stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
• Assist internal and external audit processes, ensuring compliance with IFRS and corporate policies.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls and reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant in a large, complex or multinational organisation.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS and lease accounting.
• Extensive experience with month‑end and year‑end reporting cycles.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Available to start immediately.
