Senior Financial Accountant – Temp to Perm

About the role

Our client, a well‑established organisation in Sydney, is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant on an initial temporary basis with the intention of converting to a permanent position. This hands‑on role combines financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting and commercial reporting while partnering closely with business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, including balance‑sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary to senior stakeholders.
• Assist with statutory reporting and year‑end audit requirements.
• Partner with operational teams to deliver commercial insights.
• Identify and implement improvements to reporting, systems and finance processes.
• Contribute to finance projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification (or nearing completion).
• Proven experience as a Senior Financial Accountant or in a similar senior accounting role.
• Strong technical accounting capability and ability to work with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Exposure to ERP systems.
• Power BI for reporting and analysis.
