Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

Police Bank is seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Financial Accountant to join its finance team. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial accounting, reporting and strategic planning while offering flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Complete pre‑ and post‑month‑end accounting processes for all entities, prepare journal entries and coordinate month‑end close in the Finance Manager’s absence.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and leasing schedules; prepare income and expense accruals, pre‑payments and expected credit‑loss provisions.
• Handle tax compliance including payroll tax journals, monthly BAS (GST and PAYG), annual payroll tax reconciliations and assistance with FBT returns.
• Perform securitisation trust accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Review bank reconciliations, oversee accounts payable invoices and approve payment runs according to company procedures.
• Support internal and external audit requirements, prepare annual financial statements and payment times reporting lodgements.
• Drive process‑improvement initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to projects such as sustainability reporting and automation of accounts payable and reconciliations.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of financial accounting experience, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Relevant tertiary qualification; CPA or CA membership or progress toward certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and support strategic decision‑making.
