Senior Engineering Manager – Developer Workflows

About the role

Canva is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead its Developer Workflows function. You will oversee three dedicated teams, coach engineering leads, and shape a high‑performing, inclusive culture that empowers engineers to deliver software at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Lead three Developer Workflows teams and mentor three Team Engineering Leads.
• Define and execute the strategy for developer workflows across frontend, backend, and platform engineering.
• Partner with product managers, engineering leaders, and platform teams to improve CI/CD, IDE tooling, testing frameworks, developer environments, and platform workflows.
• Translate developer pain points into impactful improvements and measure success through developer satisfaction metrics.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development for engineers and technical leaders.
• Represent Developer Workflows in leadership discussions, planning forums, and company goal reviews.
• Identify cross‑team collaboration opportunities and drive platform standardisation to enhance the overall developer experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams or technical leaders in developer experience, platform engineering, infrastructure, or tooling.
• Strong empathy for engineers and a passion for building workflows, tools, and environments that enable high performance.
• Data‑driven decision‑making using metrics, developer feedback, and impact measurement.
• Excellent collaboration skills to align stakeholders across complex technical landscapes.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast‑moving organisations.
