Senior Engineer – Roads & Highway (Traffic & Transport)

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its Perth team and support the delivery of transport infrastructure projects across Western Australia and nationally. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with the Roads & Highways team to develop evidence‑based solutions for complex traffic and transport challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality traffic engineering and transport planning outcomes across a diverse portfolio of projects.
• Conduct traffic impact assessments, transport studies and intersection analyses.
• Contribute to road safety assessments, network planning and active‑transport initiatives.
• Provide technical input for road design, transport planning and traffic engineering deliverables.
• Engage with stakeholders, coordinate project activities and support delivery from concept through detailed design and implementation.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in traffic engineering and transport planning.
• Proven ability to lead technical work and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
