Senior Electrical Engineer - Build Your Own Team

About the role

A long-established international engineering consultancy, headquartered in Asia and with a strong Australian presence, is building its Brisbane Building Services team from scratch. It is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to create the electrical capability, structure and standards of the team, with a clear path to Associate Director and a package that grows as you deliver results. The role is hybrid, with about two days a week from home.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead the electrical team, including hiring, mentoring and setting the technical standard
• Electrical design and design management across health, education, aviation and data centre projects
• Work on major hospital redevelopment and upgrade projects across Queensland and the Northern Territory
• Handle panel appointments with significant Queensland asset owners in education and aviation
• Carry out peer reviews, electrical design certification and RPEQ sign-off work
• Work with builders on D&C projects to define where consultant scope ends and subcontractor scope begins
• Support business development with architects, builders and asset owners

Required profile

• Building services electrical design experience within a consultancy environment
• Extensive knowledge of and experience designing to Australian Standards
• Around 6-7 years' experience, senior enough to run projects and clients without supervision; 10 years is highly desirable
• RPEQ registration, or clearly on the path to it
• Confident and credible in front of clients, builders and architects
• Willingness to design as well as lead, at least in the first year

Required skills

• Revit and AutoCAD (not used every day)
• Bluebeam or Navisworks is a bonus
• Experience with D&C delivery and mentoring junior engineers is a plus
