Senior Distribution Design Engineer

About the role

CitiPower and Powercor supply electricity to 1.3 million Victorian customers and are seeking an experienced Senior Distribution Design Engineer. The role provides engineering expertise, technical leadership and design management across overhead, underground and substation projects, delivering compliant designs, estimates and technical advice while mentoring developing engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering design, verification and technical assurance of overhead/underground and substation projects, meeting regulatory, OH&S, network and customer requirements
• Provide technical leadership and governance, including design certification, technical evaluations, stakeholder engagement and approval of standard and non-standard works
• Prepare cost and resource estimates for the design component of distribution projects in line with Network Services procedures
• Pursue and manage innovation in products, services, practices and procedures
• Maintain knowledge of GIS, line design, AutoCAD/Revit and other drafting systems
• Define complex issues, mentor design personnel and stimulate critical thinking

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
• Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (RPEV) and currently holding NER or RPEng
• 8+ years of distribution design experience (overhead, underground or substation) with at least 2 years as a technical leader
• Extensive knowledge of distribution overhead, underground, substation and optic fibre design

Required skills

• Line design, GIS, AutoCAD/Revit (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of electrical networks, operation and construction plans
• Expert design and compliance knowledge of distribution substations under Australian Standards
