Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Datacom is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its high‑performance Operations team. You will design, build and maintain highly available, scalable, and automated solutions for customer‑facing systems while working in a hybrid environment across Australian offices.

Key responsibilities

• Automate operating system deployment, configuration and security hardening.
• Install and configure application middleware platforms.
• Deploy workloads to VMware and VMware Cloud on AWS.
• Manage code deployment and platform lifecycle using CI/CD pipelines.
• Produce audit and compliance reports.
• Maintain platform high availability through reliable change and release processes.
• Engage with customers to design technical solutions.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and eligibility for NV1 security clearance.
• Strong experience with open‑source and VMware automation tools.
• Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
• Proven ability to research, develop and promote platform‑agnostic solutions.

Required skills

• Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server.
• Configuration Management: git, GitLab CI/CD, Puppet, Puppet Bolt, Ansible, PowerShell DSC.
• Networking / Load Balancing: F5 BIG‑IP, Access Policy Manager (APM), Infoblox DDI, HAProxy.
• Monitoring: Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana.
• Automation / Scripting: RESTful API integration, Bash, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, VMware vRO, Rundeck.
• Virtualisation: VMware, VMware Cloud on AWS.
