Senior Cyber Security Analyst – Sydney

About the role

This global marine transportation company is expanding its Australian operations and seeks a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to lead regional cybersecurity initiatives. Based in Sydney, you will oversee SOC activities, manage a cybersecurity analyst, and align security practices with Australian regulations and global frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee SOC triage, manage security alerts and escalations.
• Investigate and resolve security incidents.
• Align security processes with NIST, ISP and evolving Australian regulations.
• Collaborate with IT and global teams (Vancouver) on security projects.
• Provide technical guidance to a Cybersecurity Analyst.
• Evaluate and improve security tools such as Zscaler, Microsoft security stack, and Check Point.
• Conduct risk assessments and support vulnerability management.
• Act as escalation point for complex cybersecurity issues.

Required profile

• 3+ years experience in cybersecurity, IT security or SOC environments.
• 5‑7 years overall IT experience.
• Strong technical background in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity.
• Hands‑on experience with SOC operations, incident response and escalation management.
• Familiarity with NIST and ISP frameworks.
• Ability to work independently and lead local security initiatives.
