Senior Contracts Officer

About the role

The Senior Contracts Officer joins La Trobe University’s Research and Industry Agreements Team on a six‑month fixed‑term covering parental leave. The role provides high‑quality contracting support for research and consulting projects, working closely with external funders, industry partners and internal researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of research and consulting agreements, from initiation through to closure.
• Negotiate contract terms and variations with external partners and internal stakeholders.
• Support the preparation and submission of tenders, quotes and funding proposals.
• Provide expert advice on contractual matters to teams across the university’s research and industry engagement portfolio.
• Monitor project milestones, ensure compliance with contractual obligations and handle any required amendments.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant field with at least four years of experience, or equivalent extensive experience.
• Proven experience in contract negotiations and managing research agreements with diverse partners.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities, with a collaborative approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of synthesising complex information.
• Experience delivering training or seminars in research management or business development contexts.
