Senior Consultant or Manager - Actuarial, Financial Services

About the role

EY is hiring a Senior Consultant or Manager in actuarial consulting within its Financial Services practice, based in Sydney. You will advise clients in the private and government sectors on General Insurance and/or Private Health Insurance, helping them manage risk, optimise performance and grow.

Key responsibilities

• Build strategic partnerships with clients across the public and private sectors.
• Work with colleagues in strategy, transactions, tax, technology and risk.
• Take part in projects such as business transformation, capital and risk management, pricing, product innovation, liability valuation and appointed actuary work.
• Develop and run actuarial models, analyse data and interpret findings.
• Mentor junior team members and stay current with industry trends and regulation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related field.
• Professional actuarial qualification (e.g. FIAA) completed or in progress, with 2 to 8 years of actuarial experience.
• In-depth knowledge of general insurance and/or private health insurance; experience in pricing, claims and reserving, underwriting and reinsurance, capital and risk management, asset and liability valuation, IFRS 17 and regulatory frameworks is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with actuarial software and techniques using Excel, SAS, R and Python.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, and the ability to explain complex information to non-specialists.
• Ability to manage projects, develop new business and mentor staff.
• Experience with coding, programming and AI/GenAI is highly valued.
