Senior Consultant - Internal Audit

About the role

RSM Australia is hiring a Senior Consultant II for its Risk Advisory Services team. The role delivers high-quality internal audit, compliance and consulting engagements for a diverse client portfolio, combining analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement and hands-on fieldwork to improve governance, risk and internal control environments. It is client-facing, with opportunities for leadership exposure and career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver internal audit, compliance and advisory engagements, managing multiple projects at once
• Lead, mentor and train team members while ensuring methodology and quality compliance
• Prepare engagement budgets, monitor costs and manage project resourcing
• Conduct technical and operational reviews across clients with different risk profiles
• Develop knowledge of client systems, processes and internal control environments
• Prepare and maintain electronic working papers for Manager/Partner review
• Draft clear internal audit reports with commercial recommendations and identify emerging issues
• Build relationships with senior clients and take part in business development
• Deliver presentations and stay up to date on industry trends, risks and regulatory changes

Required profile

• 4+ years of internal audit and risk advisory experience, ideally in professional services
• Detail-oriented, proactive, with strong communication, leadership and mentoring skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to self-manage priorities
• Relevant tertiary degree and/or qualification
• Professional certification such as CIA, CA or CPA is desirable
• Previous team management experience and data analytics with IDEA or ACL are desirable
• Ability to speak a second language is desirable

Required skills

• Process mapping, problem solving and control testing
• Understanding of governance, compliance and performance-focused reviews
• Knowledge of IIA standards (IPPF) and risk management principles including ISO 31000
• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
