Senior Companion Volunteer – Bankstown

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to spend one-on-one time with elderly residents in a care home in Bankstown. The scheme aims to reduce loneliness and build connections between older people and volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Visit elderly residents in a care home during working hours, Monday to Friday, between 2pm and 5pm.
• Stay for 30 minutes to 1 hour per visit.
• Share a gentle walk in the garden, play bingo, share coffee in the courtyard, have a warm chat, or simply sit together and be present.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• A national volunteer police check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• No special skills needed; kindness, patience and a listening ear are enough.
• Open to students, retirees, professionals and anyone with time to give.
