Senior Collections Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Collections Officer to manage and collect overdue repayments from business customers of an innovative Australian fintech. You will handle a portfolio of SME accounts, negotiate payment arrangements and support improvements in collections performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customers with accounts in arrears, tracking overdue repayments and following up payment commitments.
• Contact customers via telephone, email, SMS and other approved channels to collect outstanding amounts and negotiate payment arrangements.
• Issue relevant customer notices accurately and within required timeframes.
• Investigate and resolve account queries and disputes, escalating matters where required.
• Maintain accurate records of collections activity, customer communications and agreed payment arrangements.
• Collaborate with sales, customer service and internal teams to resolve issues and improve the collections process.

Required profile

• Minimum four years’ collections experience, with SME collections essential.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to handle difficult conversations respectfully and professionally.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Professional, respectful and customer‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of the Australian regulatory environment (desirable).
