Senior C++ Platform Engineer

About the role

Join a leading quantitative trading firm building the critical systems that power one of the world’s fastest electronic trading platforms. You will develop core C++ infrastructure that keeps large‑scale, latency‑sensitive trading systems running safely, reliably and at exceptional speed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑performance C++ services supporting large‑scale electronic trading platforms.
• Build distributed systems for real‑time risk controls, reference data, trade lifecycle management and critical platform services.
• Design low‑latency, fault‑tolerant applications capable of handling high volumes of real‑time data.
• Own projects from architecture and design through implementation, deployment and production support.
• Improve platform resilience, scalability and operational reliability across business‑critical systems.
• Collaborate with software engineers, infrastructure teams and trading stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices through code reviews, automated testing, observability and continuous improvement.
• Modernise existing systems and replace manual processes with scalable engineering solutions.
• Mentor engineers and help shape technical standards across the wider engineering organisation.

Required profile

• Strong commercial C++ development experience.
• Excellent understanding of computer‑science fundamentals such as algorithms, data structures, networking and operating systems.
• Experience building high‑performance, low‑latency or distributed systems.
• Strong Linux or Unix systems knowledge.
• Proficiency with Python or another scripting language.
• Experience delivering production software throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and performance‑optimisation skills.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability or cloud‑native tooling is advantageous.
• Understanding of relational databases and modern data platforms is beneficial.
• Previous experience in electronic trading or financial markets is a plus.
