Senior Azure Cloud Engineer

About the role

Reporting to the Cloud Operations Manager, the Senior Azure Cloud Engineer will design, implement and maintain secure, scalable Azure solutions that support St Vincent's strategic goals. The role is hands‑on, focused on ownership, problem‑solving and operating at scale in a regulated, mission‑critical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and operate secure, scalable Azure infrastructure for Tier 0 clinical and enterprise systems.
• Improve Azure platform maturity, DevOps practices and operational processes, including Infrastructure as Code and deployment pipelines.
• Own and uplift IaC patterns, platform hardening and governance of the Azure tenancy.
• Support high‑availability, backup and disaster‑recovery for critical applications.
• Act as senior technical escalation point during incidents and outages.
• Partner with cybersecurity, data, networking and application teams to implement security controls.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure in a large‑scale, regulated environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure services (AKS, Azure Container Apps, Function Apps, backup & disaster‑recovery).
• Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform (primary), Bicep, ARM templates.
• CI/CD platforms: Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Copilot.
• Platform engineering patterns and AI‑assisted development.
