Senior Audit Lead – Institutional (ex‑Markets)

About the role

The Senior Audit Lead – Institutional (ex‑Markets) provides independent third‑line assurance across ANZ’s Institutional portfolio, excluding Markets. Reporting to the Audit Director, the role leads audit engagements that evaluate governance, risk management and control effectiveness throughout the Institutional customer value chain.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver audit engagements of varying complexity, ensuring alignment with the Internal Audit plan.
• Manage audit delivery within agreed timelines and budgets, escalating risks promptly and following up on issues.
• Contribute to audit planning by identifying key risks, emerging issues and coverage priorities.
• Support risk identification and audit scoping, focusing on material risks and customer outcomes.
• Apply Internal Audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards, using the Non‑Financial Risk Framework.
• Adopt a data‑driven approach, leveraging analytics and AI to enhance planning, testing and insight generation.
• Engage proactively with audit teams and business stakeholders to ensure high‑quality outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex audit engagements within a financial institution.
• Strong understanding of internal audit methodology, global standards and non‑financial risk frameworks.
• Ability to manage timelines, budgets and stakeholder expectations.
• Sound risk judgment and the capacity to identify emerging risks.
• Experience using data analytics to improve audit efficiency and insight.
