Security Operations Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Security Operations Manager (non‑IT) to lead and strengthen protective security outcomes across a geographically dispersed federal government organisation. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement and a weekly pay schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the security operations programme and a small security team.
• Provide expert advice on protective security, risk management and compliance requirements.
• Develop, implement and monitor assurance programmes to maintain security compliance.
• Conduct security risk assessments, audits and reviews, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Drive security awareness, training and stakeholder‑engagement initiatives across the organisation.
• Prepare and review security reports, briefings, submissions and other strategic documentation.
• Ensure security operations align with relevant government security frameworks and best‑practice standards.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in protective security operations, risk management and compliance.
• Strong understanding of the Commonwealth Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage priorities, resources and team performance.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to interpret policy, solve complex issues and deliver outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.
