Secondary Design Engineer – Permanent, Perth

About the role

We are seeking a Permanent Secondary Design Engineer to join a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation in Perth. The role focuses on the design and delivery of protection, control and communication systems for high‑voltage (132 kV–330 kV+) infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design protection and control schemes for HV substations and transmission assets.
• Produce detailed design deliverables such as schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
• Develop protection philosophies, set relay parameters and perform coordination studies.
• Contribute to SCADA and communication system integration.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian standards, performance and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate with primary, civil and structural disciplines to achieve integrated solutions.
• Support system integration, testing and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and drive design efficiency improvements.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience in HV secondary design on infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of protection and control systems and relay configuration.
• Familiarity with Australian grid standards and EPC or utility environments.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
