About the role

Wavell Heights State High School is seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support practical science learning in its vibrant school community. The role involves preparing laboratory environments, assisting teachers and students, and ensuring safety and compliance in all science activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, samples, chemicals, and materials for practical lessons.
• Safely manage chemicals, laboratory hazards, waste disposal, and compliance procedures.
• Maintain laboratories, preparation rooms, storerooms, and scientific equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
• Operate and maintain laboratory apparatus and support teachers and students during experiments, demonstrations, and field trips.
• Assist with STEM initiatives and provide technical support for curriculum activities.
• Manage stock, inventories, chemical registers, deliveries, purchasing, and budget records.
• Maintain laboratory protocols, safety documentation, and regulatory registers.
• Collect and manage scientific resources, field samples, flora, and fauna in line with regulations.
