Science Technician – Molecular Diagnostics

About the role

The National Fire Ant Eradication Program is seeking a motivated Science Technician to support molecular diagnostic and research activities within its Genetics Analysis team. You will work in a laboratory environment contributing to biosecurity outcomes that protect Queensland from invasive fire ants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory procedures and maintain high laboratory standards.
• Support molecular diagnostic testing for fire‑ant detection and related research.
• Assist scientists and technical staff on research projects and data collection.
• Maintain laboratory quality systems and documentation.
• Develop expertise in molecular biology techniques through on‑the‑job training.
