Safety Coordinator - Construction

About the role

Hutchies is looking for a motivated and practical Safety Coordinator to join its Sydney team on a full-time permanent basis. The role works closely with project teams to promote safe work practices and support the day-to-day safety requirements of construction sites, covering safety administration, inductions, inspections, audits, compliance and continuous improvement. Travel between sites is regular.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive health and safety support across construction projects in Sydney
• Travel between sites to carry out inspections, audits and safety observations
• Conduct site inductions for employees, subcontractors and visitors
• Help project teams with risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), incident investigations and corrective actions
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems
• Monitor site safety performance and identify improvements
• Deliver safety guidance, coaching and education to employees, subcontractors and stakeholders
• Assist with injury management and return-to-work processes where required
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports and compliance documentation

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in the field
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role
• Current driver's licence and ability to travel regularly between sites
• Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, standards and best practice
• Team player with initiative when working independently, and strong stakeholder relationships

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Safety management systems
