Robotics Software & Controls Engineer

About the role
We are partnering with an innovative engineering business that creates next‑generation robotics, automation and sensing solutions for the mining sector. As a Robotics Software & Controls Engineer you will join a multidisciplinary team to design, develop and integrate software that powers intelligent automation systems from concept to field deployment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop high‑quality C++ and Python software for robotics and automation applications.
- Design, test and deploy software that integrates with hardware, sensors and industrial control systems.
- Build and maintain APIs, software libraries and system integrations.
- Create automation and control functionality using modern engineering practices.
- Integrate IoT devices and sensor data into intelligent automation platforms.
- Investigate and resolve software, integration and performance issues.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and robotics engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support testing, commissioning and continuous product improvement.
- Contribute to technical documentation, version control and deployment processes.
- Prototype emerging technologies to enhance future product capability.
Required profile
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Commercial software development experience using C++ and/or Python.
- Experience integrating software with hardware, automation or robotics platforms.
- Strong understanding of Linux environments, APIs and software libraries.
- Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
