Risk & Compliance Contractor

About the role

A well-established Australian investment and funds management business with a significant commercial property portfolio is maturing its governance, risk and compliance capability. It is seeking an experienced contractor to support a range of key initiatives, reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance. The role is hands-on, focused on delivering risk and compliance outcomes, improving controls and embedding a stronger risk culture. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to deliver a targeted risk and compliance improvement program.
• Develop and maintain operational risk and controls documentation across key business functions.
• Conduct controls reviews and assist with testing so that frameworks operate effectively.
• Support enhancements to governance arrangements, policies and compliance processes.
• Contribute to AML/CTF, third-party risk management, business continuity and operational resilience initiatives.
• Assist with monitoring, oversight and reporting for senior stakeholders and governance committees.
• Drive practical, sustainable risk management outcomes and ensure knowledge transfer and documentation are completed during the engagement.

Required profile

• 5+ years' experience in risk, compliance, governance or operational risk within Australian financial services.
• Previous experience in funds management, investment management or a similar financial services setting.
• Ability to implement risk frameworks, controls and governance processes in a practical business environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation.
• Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work autonomously in a growing business.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of regulatory obligations in an AFSL-regulated environment.
• Knowledge of AML/CTF obligations, operational resilience and risk management principles is highly regarded.
