Restaurant Chef – Italian Restaurant

About the role

Peppina, an award‑winning Italian restaurant in Hobart, is seeking a Restaurant Chef to support the preparation and execution of its seasonal menu. Working closely with the Culinary Director and the broader Food & Beverage team, you will help deliver high‑quality dishes that showcase Tasmania’s produce and traditional Italian flavours.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present menu items according to Peppina’s recipes and standards.
• Complete mise en place efficiently before service and maintain consistency in quality, presentation and portion control.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
• Assist with stock rotation, ordering, storage and minimise food waste.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment, adhering to food safety, hygiene and WHS regulations.
• Support the brigade during high‑volume periods while upholding attention to detail.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a professional restaurant, hotel or premium dining kitchen.
• Passion for food and genuine interest in Italian cuisine.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and take direction.
• Full working rights in Australia and flexibility to work rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles.
