Registered Psychiatric Nurse - Local Mental Health

About the role

Goulburn Valley Health is recruiting a Registered Psychiatric Nurse for its GSSM Local Mental Health and Wellbeing Service in Shepparton. The service covers adults aged 26 and over with mental illness, psychological distress or drug and co-occurring substance use issues, and operates 7 days a week with extended hours. The nurse works in a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and lived-experience staff, providing specialist assessment, therapeutic intervention and care alongside other supports.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist mental health nursing assessment, therapeutic intervention, care and support to service users
• Work with clinical and other supports to help clients access interventions across the care continuum
• Address cognitive, occupational, physical and social factors affecting service users
• Deliver client-focused, recovery-oriented, evidence-based care

Required profile

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse
• Postgraduate Diploma (or higher) in Mental Health Nursing or an equivalent/related field
• At least 5 years of experience as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse
• Expert knowledge of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Act 2022
• Experience in community-based mental health nursing, community liaison and building community networks
• Ability to work both in a multi-disciplinary team and independently with limited direction
