Registered Nurse - Scrub Scout

About the role

Join the Urology Theatre team at St Andrews War Memorial Hospital in Brisbane. As a Registered Nurse – Scrub Scout you will support a high‑performing surgical service that utilizes two Da Vinci robotic systems, delivering advanced minimally invasive urological care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide peri‑operative nursing care for patients undergoing a range of urological procedures.
• Prepare theatres, equipment, instrumentation and consumables for scheduled operating lists.
• Scrub and/or scout for both conventional and robotic urology surgeries.
• Maintain surgeon preference cards and identify opportunities to improve theatre efficiency.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, CSSD and the multidisciplinary team.
• Support orientation of new staff and contribute to a positive team culture.
• Participate in education, competency development and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Nursing degree (or equivalent) with current AHPRA registration.
• Previous peri‑operative nursing experience; urology experience is highly regarded.
• Scrub/Scout experience in an acute operating theatre environment.
• Australian working rights.
• Willingness to work AM and PM shifts on a fortnightly roster.

Required skills

• Experience with Da Vinci robotic surgical system.
