Registered Nurse – Perioperative Services (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join its Day Procedure Unit, delivering safe, person‑centred care in a high‑acuity surgical and endoscopy environment. The role offers flexible 10‑hour shifts on a part‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term basis, with after‑hours on‑call duties following endoscopy training.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care across a range of surgical and procedural specialties, including endoscopy, anaesthetics, recovery and complex surgeries.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective patient outcomes.
• Work 10‑hour shifts and participate in an after‑hours on‑call roster.
• Maintain compliance with safety and clinical standards.
• Engage in ongoing professional development with support from a dedicated Clinical Educator.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years acute clinical nursing experience (preferred).
• Perioperative or Day Procedure Unit experience is desirable.
• Ability to assess, plan and prioritise in a fast‑paced clinical setting.
• Strong communication, teamwork and critical‑thinking skills.
