Registered Midwife - Postnatal/Antenatal Ward

About the role

Mercy Health is hiring a Registered Midwife for its Postnatal Antenatal Ward at Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg. The midwife provides safe, evidence-based, woman and family-centred care to women and their newborn babies throughout the antenatal and postnatal period. The roster is rotating AM/PM/ND or 12-hour day/night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, promoting positive health outcomes and supporting informed decision-making.
• Manage a dynamic workload involving women with both low and high-risk pregnancies and postnatal needs.
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, allied health and support staff to ensure timely escalation of care, effective communication and coordinated services.

Required profile

• Registration as a midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or in the process of obtaining it.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Midwife.
• Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred care.
• Ability to obtain a current police record check and Working with Children Check, and proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.

What we offer

• Pay of $43.82-$54.41 per hour, increasing to $46.35-$61.97 by November 2027, plus penalties.
• Visa sponsorship offered to successful applicants if required.
