Refrigeration Mechanic - Townsville

About the role

A mechanical and electrical contractor serving Townsville and the surrounding region for over 40 years is looking for a refrigeration mechanic. The role delivers refrigeration and air conditioning installations on major construction and commercial projects, and also covers domestic and light commercial changeovers, servicing and breakdown diagnostics.

Key responsibilities

• Install exhaust fans and air conditioning on large-scale construction sites
• Work on large commercial projects around Townsville and school sites
• Install new coolrooms and cold rooms alongside projects
• Changeover split, ducted, ceiling cassette, multi-head and VRF systems
• Servicing, warranty work and breakdown diagnostics

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
• Current ARCtick refrigerant handling licence
• Restricted or full electrical licence preferred
• Manual driver's licence, White Card and Working at Heights
• 4th-year apprentices with exposure to the above will also be considered

Required skills

• EWP, forklift, slew crane, dogman or heavy vehicle licence highly regarded
• VRF and split system air conditioning

• $44-$50 per hour with plenty of overtime and EBA rates on select sites
