Recruitment Advisor & Onboarding Officer (APS 4/5)

About the role

The Attraction and Recruitment section of the People Branch is looking for APS 4 and APS 5 Recruitment Advisors and Onboarding Officers to support end‑to‑end recruitment and onboarding services for the Australian Electoral Commission. You will work closely with hiring managers, candidates and internal stakeholders to ensure compliant, timely and high‑quality outcomes throughout the recruitment lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice and administrative support across the full recruitment process, from job advertising to candidate selection.
• Manage onboarding activities to deliver a seamless experience for new hires.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Identify routine issues, resolve them, and escalate complex matters when necessary.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support changes to recruitment and onboarding processes.

Required profile

• Experience in recruitment, onboarding, human resources or related administration.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet legislative timeframes.
• Strong communication skills with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of recruitment and onboarding policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in standard office software for record‑keeping and reporting.
