Purchasing Officer – Capex & Vendor

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Purchasing Officer to support the Hobart site’s capex and vendor management needs. You will be responsible for sourcing goods and services, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Key responsibilities

• Procure goods and services using SAP or other ERP tools, creating and managing purchase orders.
• Run quotes and tender processes (RFT/RFP/EOI), evaluate responses and select suppliers.
• Identify and implement process improvements such as automation, transaction reduction and cataloguing repeat purchases.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure cost, quality and delivery commitments.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and promote e‑procurement initiatives.
• Generate reports from ERP data to highlight trends, cost‑saving opportunities and performance insights.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve inventory, invoice and supply issues.

Required profile

• Proven purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in resources, manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to process improvement.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities for engaging suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience with SAP Ariba vendor module and basic contract administration is a plus.
