Public Health Nurse – Communicable Disease Control

About the role

The Public Health Unit at Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a permanent Public Health Nurse to deliver nursing services within the Communicable Disease Control section. You will investigate notifiable disease cases, provide advice on disease and immunisation, and support coordinated outbreak responses across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and manage cases of notifiable communicable diseases.
• Provide information and advice on disease prevention and immunisation to health practitioners and the community.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate outbreak responses.
• Address additional public health issues as they arise.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in public health or community nursing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with health professionals and the public.

Required skills

• Knowledge of communicable disease surveillance and control.
• Understanding of immunisation programs and public health guidelines.
