Project Geologist – Underground Growth

About the role

Northern Star Resources is hiring a Project Geologist for its Growth team at the KCGM Underground operation, with positions available at KCGM Mt Charlotte Underground and Fimiston Underground. The role reports to the Senior Geologist and involves designing and supervising drill programs that add value to existing resources, locate new ore bodies and extend the life of mine. It is a full-time position with an 8 days on, 6 days off roster of 11-hour day shifts only, based in Kalgoorlie.

Key responsibilities

• Train and mentor Graduate Geologists, Geologists and Geology Technicians.
• Coordinate the design, scheduling and oversight of drilling programs so that timely and accurate data is provided for analysis, and liaise with many stakeholders.
• Supervise drill contractors and enforce environmental, safety and security measures.
• Oversee the analysis, interpretation and modelling of geological data.
• Create detailed wireframes of geology and mineralisation to guide exploration.
• Present and defend interpretations to peers and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree majoring in Geology from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Minimum three years of geological experience.
• Current "C" class Western Australian driver's licence.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and adapt to changing drilling priorities and deadlines.
• Team player with good communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with Leapfrog, Datamine and Acquire.
• Exposure to geological modelling and wireframing.
