Project Engineer - Underground Mining (8/6 FIFO)

About the role

Barminco is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for its Great Fingall underground mining operation, on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role supports the safe, productive and profitable delivery of underground mining by working with site leadership, technical services teams and the client. The position is advertised by Perenti Group Services.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report production and development performance against contractual and client targets
• Understand site contracts, management plans and operational requirements, and maintain relationships with client and technical services personnel
• Identify and implement cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives, and prepare monthly operational, KPI and performance reports
• Assist with budget preparation, forecasting and expenditure monitoring, and support monthly client claims and revenue forecasts
• Maintain quality assurance programmes and documentation, and review excavation and stope performance against design and contract specifications
• Take part in planning meetings, help plan mining equipment use, and support incident investigations and corrective actions
• Conduct workplace inspections, promote safe work practices, and ensure compliance with mining legislation, regulations, company standards and client requirements
• Assist with workforce planning, recruitment, training and development, and work with operational and maintenance teams on continuous improvement

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering
• At least 5 years' experience in underground hard rock mining operations
• Underground Supervisor or First Class Mine Manager certificate of competency highly regarded
• Knowledge of underground mining methods, planning processes and performance management
• Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting and cost control
• Experience liaising with clients, technical services teams and operational personnel
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills; Senior First Aid certificate and current C class driver's licence desirable
