Project Development Manager – HVAC Retrofit Projects

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth of HVAC retrofit projects in Sydney. You will combine technical HVAC expertise with commercial acumen to shape building upgrade projects from concept to award.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop HVAC retrofit, asset replacement and mechanical upgrade opportunities across the Sydney market.
• Engage customers to understand operational, financial and sustainability challenges.
• Work with engineering, estimating, service and operations teams to create tailored solutions.
• Guide opportunities from initial engagement through proposal, negotiation, contract award and hand‑over.
• Influence project specifications and position Johnson Controls as the partner of choice.
• Develop a strong pipeline and meet growth targets while providing market insights.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience in the HVAC or building services industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical plant upgrades, retrofits and asset lifecycle planning.
• Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to identify customer value.
• Proactive, self‑driven approach and a desire to win new business.
