Project Controller

About the role

You will join the team delivering the Bus Solution package of the Opal Next Generation (ONG) program, a high‑impact initiative that will transform passenger journey planning, payment and real‑time information across the NSW Opal‑enabled bus network. Reporting to the ONG Program Director and dotted‑line to the Head of Finance – Trapeze Group ANZ, you will act as a trusted adviser to project leadership, ensuring strong financial control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Own integrated project financial performance reporting, including revenue, cost and margin analysis with variance commentary.
• Maintain project budgets and forecasts, reflecting approved scope, risks and committed expenditure.
• Monitor margin performance, identify profitability risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts, align revenue realisation with project expenditure and support treasury management.
• Produce financial reports and schedules for governance forums, steering committees and client submissions.
• Maintain the project general ledger, ensuring accurate coding, reconciliation and documentation of all transactions.
• Manage month‑end close processes, including POC calculation, revenue recognition, accruals, journals and account reconciliation.
• Oversee intercompany billing and recharge processes, ensuring timely cross‑entity cost allocation.
• Track contractual security instruments, monitoring amounts, trigger conditions and expiry dates.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in financial control for large‑scale projects.
• Strong analytical ability to provide forward‑looking financial insights and scenario modelling.
• Proven track record of managing budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow for complex programmes.
• Ability to work closely with finance, delivery and commercial teams and to influence senior stakeholders.
