Project Controller

About the role

Austal is seeking a detail‑driven Project Controller to support major defence and shipbuilding programmes under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement. You will work closely with project managers, finance, procurement and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to required performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial oversight including budgeting, cost control, forecasting and earned value analysis.
• Monitor project schedules, milestones and performance indicators; maintain Performance Measurement Baselines.
• Support Integrated Baseline Reviews and ensure compliance with contract and EVMS requirements.
• Develop dashboards, performance summaries and other reporting tools.
• Maintain integrated project data across EVMS, IFS, Primavera P6 and related platforms.
• Identify, analyse and report program risks and opportunities.
• Track resource demand and supply, communicate variances.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Program Management and Operations to drive continuous improvement in project controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2‑5 years of experience in project controls, cost control or financial analysis.
• Strong knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Hands‑on experience with Earned Value Management and performance measurement.
• Understanding of scheduling principles such as critical path, sequencing and dependencies.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
• Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail.
