Project Controller – Defence Shipbuilding

About the role

The Project Controller will oversee financial, cost, schedule and performance aspects of major defence and shipbuilding programmes under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet all governance and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide budgeting, cost control, forecasting and earned value analysis.
• Monitor project schedules, milestones and performance indicators.
• Establish and maintain Performance Measurement Baselines (PMB).
• Support Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR) in line with contract and EVMS requirements.
• Develop dashboards, performance summaries and conduct data analysis.
• Maintain integrated project data across EVMS, IFS, Primavera P6 and related platforms.
• Identify, analyse and report program risks and opportunities.
• Track resource demand/supply and communicate variances.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Program Management and Operations.
• Drive continuous improvement of project controls processes and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or related field.
• 2‑5 years experience in project controls, cost control or financial analysis.
• Strong knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Hands‑on experience with Earned Value Management and performance measurement.
• Understanding of scheduling principles such as critical path, sequencing and dependencies.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with financial reporting tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate data into insights.
• High attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving approach.
