Production Manager - Sheet Metal Manufacturing

About the role

A well-established Australian manufacturer with a strong reputation and a clear growth trajectory is seeking an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of its Melbourne factory floor. The role reports directly to senior leadership, involves hands-on leadership on the shop floor, and supports a developing team as the operation grows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop production staff
• Drive safe and efficient manufacturing operations
• Monitor workflow, productivity and quality standards
• Identify process improvements and production efficiencies
• Support workforce planning and future team growth
• Ensure products are manufactured accurately and delivered on time
• Maintain a strong quality focus and attention to detail
• Work closely with leadership to support ongoing business growth

Required profile

• Experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience as a Production Manager, Workshop Manager, Production Supervisor, Fabrication Supervisor or similar
• Hands-on leadership style, able to lead by example and roll up their sleeves
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and people leadership skills

Required skills

• Strong sheet metal fabrication knowledge
• Exposure to welding and metal fabrication processes
• Experience with laser cutting, press operations and similar equipment is highly regarded; training is provided
