Job description
About the role
REA Group is hiring a Product Designer for its commercial property marketplace, realcommercial.com.au (RCA), a platform connecting buyers, tenants, owners and agents. The role works across the RCA Consumer and Mobile squads, designing connected experiences across web and native apps, and is a permanent position based in Melbourne.
Key responsibilities
- Work across the RCA Consumer and Mobile squads, partnering with product, engineering, research, data and commercial stakeholders to turn consumer problems into usable product experiences.
- Contribute to design from discovery through delivery, in line with the company vision.
- Shape product strategy with Product Managers, Engineers and Researchers, making pragmatic decisions within technical constraints.
- Design and evolve consumer journeys across the website and iOS and Android apps, covering responsive web, iOS and Android patterns.
- Use qualitative and quantitative research to understand customer needs, test assumptions, evaluate performance and guide prioritisation.
- Create flows, prototypes, interaction models and high-fidelity designs.
- Plan, prioritise and manage design activities with a lean mindset, applying design thinking throughout development.
- Monitor competitor, technology, design and real estate trends to spot opportunities.
Required profile
- At least three years' experience as a product designer, ideally in a marketplace, platform or other complex digital product environment.
- A portfolio showing end-to-end product design: problem framing, option exploration, testing and polished delivery.
- An evidence-led, empathetic approach to solving problems pragmatically.
- Experience designing for responsive web and native mobile products; familiarity with iOS and Android conventions is highly desirable.
- Ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced environment and balance user needs, technical constraints and business goals.
Required skills
- Industry-standard design tools and best practices.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft, with clear communication of decisions and trade-offs.
What we offer
- Hybrid and flexible working.
- Flexible leave, including birthday leave and the option to buy additional leave.
- Parental leave for primary and secondary carers.
- Hackdays and a volunteering programme with community grants and matched payroll giving.
