Product Design Engineer – Melbourne

About the role

You will join a multidisciplinary team developing innovative products for tightly regulated environments. Working closely with quality, hardware and software colleagues, you will contribute across the full product development lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical research and interpret relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
• Translate clinical needs and user insights into clear design inputs and engineering requirements.
• Develop innovative mechanical solutions, especially for miniaturised, flexible or steerable systems.
• Create and iterate detailed 3D CAD models from concept through to production‑ready definitions.
• Design, build and test prototypes, and lead verification and validation activities.
• Drive design for manufacturability, collaborating with suppliers to optimise tooling and production processes.
• Liaise with cross‑functional teams, clients, clinical stakeholders and suppliers to ensure technical feasibility.
• Produce complete production‑ready documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications and technical files.

Required profile

• 5+ years of product design experience in a regulated or medical‑device context.
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented mindset with a passion for both form and function.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
• Proactive ownership of design outcomes and willingness to mentor junior engineers.
