Principal Solution Architect – Databricks & AI

About the role

Versent is seeking a Principal Solution Architect for Databricks and AI to lead enterprise-scale Data and AI transformations for some of Australia's most recognised organisations. This is a senior, customer-facing consulting role for a proven Databricks expert who influences executive stakeholders, defines modern data strategies and architects AI-enabled solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture strategy and transformation engagements centred on the Databricks Lakehouse Platform
• Define enterprise Data and AI roadmaps, operating models and governance frameworks
• Architect modern data platforms across Azure and AWS
• Design and guide implementation of AI-powered data products using Databricks Mosaic AI
• Advise clients on GenAI, Machine Learning, Data Governance, MLOps and Agentic AI
• Facilitate executive workshops, architecture reviews and strategic planning sessions
• Provide thought leadership across Databricks, AI, analytics and modern data architectures
• Support opportunity shaping, solution design and key client pursuits
• Develop reusable architecture patterns, reference architectures and best practices for the Data and AI practice

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Solution Architect, Principal Architect or Data Architect in a consulting environment
• Enterprise and solution architecture expertise across modern cloud data platforms, with deep experience on AWS and Azure
• Proven ability to architect AI-enabled data platforms
• Demonstrated enterprise Databricks delivery experience across architecture, governance, engineering and AI implementations
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to connect business strategy with technology outcomes

Required skills

• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional (essential)
• Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, data engineering frameworks and platform governance
• Databricks Mosaic AI, Vector Search, RAG, MLflow and agentic AI
• Nice to have: Databricks Certified Machine Learning Professional, Databricks Certified Generative AI Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
