Principal Data Analyst – Government Performance Reporting

About the role

This senior position leads the design, delivery and continuous improvement of performance reporting, insights and analysis that support policy, program effectiveness and investment decisions for Queensland sport and racing initiatives. The Principal Data Analyst transforms complex data into clear, concise reporting products for senior executives and government stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end reporting deliverables, including data extraction, merging, dashboard creation and report production.
• Develop, implement and review procedures and standards for data transformation, report design and development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to capture data needs, source requirements and reporting specifications.
• Build and maintain systems, dashboards and visualisations for internal and external audiences.
• Apply advanced analytical techniques to identify trends, anomalies and key performance drivers.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all reporting processes.
• Automate manual data workflows and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with business leaders to define KPIs and design visualisations that communicate insights effectively.
