Principal Consultant Communications

About the role

The Department of Education is seeking two senior Principal Consultants in Communications to lead strategic projects and advise senior executives on high‑profile issues. The role is based in East Perth and starts in December 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies, campaign plans and evaluation frameworks.
• Lead and mentor staff across the Communications Directorate, managing performance and delivering cross‑functional projects.
• Provide high‑level public relations, marketing advice and brand management for schools and the department.
• Plan and deliver communication projects, campaigns, events and media engagements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in government communications or large‑scale campaigns.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, think strategically and manage complex projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency or valid work visa, and clearance checks.
