Postdoctoral Fellow – Indigenous Business Research

About the role

The Dilin Duwa Centre for Indigenous Business at the University of Melbourne seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to lead cutting‑edge research on Indigenous business and leadership. This full‑time, three‑year fixed‑term role combines high‑impact research, teaching, and partnership development across the university and industry.

Key responsibilities

• Design, conduct and publish high‑quality research on Indigenous business and leadership with national and international relevance.
• Prepare competitive research grant applications and secure external funding to expand the Centre’s research portfolio.
• Teach and innovate within postgraduate programmes, including curriculum and assessment design.
• Supervise and mentor graduate and higher‑degree researchers.
• Engage with Indigenous businesses, communities and partners through events, networks and knowledge‑exchange activities.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Indigenous business, Indigenous leadership or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated track record of quality research publications.
• Experience teaching at university level and designing Indigenous business or leadership subjects.
• Ability to supervise graduate or higher‑degree researchers.
• Strong data‑analysis capability and meticulous research record‑keeping.

Required skills

• Proficiency with learning management systems such as Canvas.
• Data analysis using statistical software.
