Podiatrist – Rural Aged Care

About the role

Mallee Track Health and Community Service is recruiting a Podiatrist (reference PD28) to work within a transdisciplinary team, assessing clients and providing regular clinics in community and residential aged care settings across the Mallee Track catchment. The position is full-time or part-time, based in Sea Lake and Ouyen, and reports to the Director of Community Services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide podiatry services to all residents of the Mallee Track according to MTHCS-funded program eligibility.
• Assess clients, document treatment plans in Care Plans and contribute goals to person-directed care plans.
• Evaluate and regularly modify treatment plans with the customer, their representative and the health care team, and record progress notes.
• Supervise and clinically manage Allied Health Assistants delivering programs, in line with department supervision and delegation frameworks.
• Report changes in residents' well-being to the nurse in charge or the customer's GP, and integrate a health promotion approach into practice.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, standards and guidelines, including residential aged care standards and occupational health and safety legislation.
• Keep podiatry equipment maintained and submit recommendations for upgrades and replacements.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Podiatry and registration with AHPRA.
• Current Victorian driver's licence and willingness to travel between service centres.
• Current police check.
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally with clients, staff and the community, and to manage time and resources.
• Desirable: experience delivering services in a rural setting and experience as a podiatrist in residential aged care.
