Plant Operator

About the role

The Shire of Morawa is recruiting a full-time Plant Operator for its road works team, which maintains roads and infrastructure. The role assists the Shire with current and planned projects and maintenance works, working mainly with the road maintenance and construction team but also helping with other areas of Shire operations, including manual, non-machine tasks. Applicants with truck, road maintenance, road signage and verge spraying experience are highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

• Road maintenance through plant operations, including bitumen spraying and sealing
• Operate graders, road rollers, trucks, loaders/backhoes, incidental plant and equipment as required, ticketed and authorised
• Install road signage and carry out road verge spraying
• Maintain plant in a clean, tidy, roadworthy condition and perform regular service maintenance
• Exercise roadside safety practices, report faults promptly and assist with building construction or maintenance as required
• Work independently and with a high degree of self-responsibility; other duties as allocated by the Team Leader and/or CEO
• Comply with workplace health and safety procedures, use personal protective equipment correctly and report accidents, incidents and injuries

Required profile

• Sound experience operating construction machinery such as graders, rollers, loaders, skid steers and water trucks for road maintenance
• Current unrestricted HR/HC class National Driver's License and WA Construction White Card
• National Police Clearance (less than 3 months old)
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality

What we offer

• Remuneration package of $85,000 to $95,000 per year depending on skills, qualifications and experience
• Super co-contribution up to 5% and healthy living reimbursement
• A nine-day fortnight schedule
